WHAT IT DOES

The next gathering, pinned

Date, place and the running tally sit above the chat. Going or can't make it, answered in one tap without leaving the conversation.

Set the cadence once

Weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Each occurrence gets its own RSVP, and you can change one night without touching the rest of the series.

Chat and plans on one screen

One private thread, photos, reactions, and #event tags that link straight to the night you're arguing about. No second app to check.

SOON

More than one ting

The football lot, the book club, the cabin crew. One account, several groups, each with its own chat and its own calendar.

Everything planned, in one list

Anyone can add an event: title, time, place. The whole group is invited automatically, so there is no list to assemble and nobody to forget. Reminders only nudge the people who haven't answered.

WHAT IS A TING?

A ting (Old Norse þing) was the Norse assembly: the gathering where free people met to settle disputes, agree on things and make decisions together.

It had a fixed meeting place — the tingstad, usually an open field or a mound where everyone could see and be seen — and it met on a recurring cadence, with the same people turning up each time. Judgements were reached by discussion rather than by feud, which is why the ting is often described as an early form of democracy. The word survives in the Storting, the Alting, the Folketing, the Løgting and the Tynwald on the Isle of Man.

That is the idea behind the app. Your friend group is a small ting: the same people, a recurring gathering, everyone equal and everyone invited. Tinget just keeps the date and the conversation in one place.
